Pihikan ako on the type of comedy series I would watch. Let me correct that: Pihikan ako on the type of series I would watch. There are times that when I watch a TV series then I would get bored, and just click on the close button. May mga times kasi na I get this feeling of “are we there yet?” and I keep looking at the seek bar, checking if malapit nang matapos. But not this one.
Meet my new favorite series: Community. It all started with a lawyer who got suspended because the State Bar thinks his college degree is invalid. Napilitan ngayon siyang pumasok sa isang community college to get that college degree, where he met this girl who is having a hard time learning Spanish na nalaman niya from the first talkative guy he ever met. The ex-lawyer wants to get close to this girl that he invented this study group for Spanish subject, pretending that he is great in Spanish. Somehow, ipinagkalat ni talkative guy yung idea about having a study group for Spanish language, and four more came. The group was so diverse: different cultures, different attitudes, different beliefs. Habang nasa community college sila, magkakaroon sila ng hindi pagkakaunawaan and stuff. But in the end they will realize, they’re not just some random study group anymore: they are a family.
Unlike most of the comedy series that I am watching, may lalim ang series na ito. Hindi siya yung katulad ng I.T. Crowd na tipong purong katatawanan lang. At the end of every episode, there’s a lesson to be learned. Kahit na comedy series ang isang ito, some scenes of it gives me the aww expression, and I like it. Seeing a frustrated, suspended lawyer forced to go to a community college to re-gain his license and be with people who he doesn’t normally go around with to be with the girl he likes is kind of a difficult situation. I am really not used to that kind of complicated comedy outline, since I am so shallow inside that I don’t want my brain to process so much whenever I intended to watch so that I could relax. Kaya siguro nag-enjoy ako sa I.T. Crowd. But, I feel like the lawyer in the story, trying to get out of his comfort zone to be with a great company. And by company, I mean this show.
